Mindful Mission For Today: Practice More Gratitude

The German mystic Master Eckhart has already known in the 13th century: ‘If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.’

Happiness research has discovered that gratitude reduces stress and makes you more energetic, optimistic and satisfied. However, it is not easy to express gratefulness - so here are three simple ways to integrate it in your everyday life.

A little prayer before bedtime

Before you close your eyes in the evening, think about three (!) moments that have brightened your day. These do not have to be earth-shattering achievements: Did you get tasty chocolates from a colleague? Did you have lunch under the blue sky? Re-live your most beautiful moments and feel the rising satisfaction. Good night!

Enjoy compliments and praise

Especially Germans are courageous defenders of compliments: These pants look great? Not on me! That task was well done? Well, anyone can do that! When somebody compliments you, pay attention and say a loud THANK YOU - with a radiant smile. You've earned it! Allow yourself to share this positive feeling with others.

Write a thankfulness note

Think about an aspect of your life that is going really well right now. Do you have an amazing time with your siblings? Is your new boss a real blessing? Write a reminder on a post-it and stick it to the fridge or the bathroom mirror. As soon as the next area begins to brighten up, write a new post-it.

Have a blessed day,

Andrea
